About Tucson, Arizona

Many World War I veterans who’d been gassed discovered in Tucson a climate beneficial to their respiratory problems. The air is clean and dry, here, except during monsoon season. (They say Tucson has two major seasons, summer and winter, and three minor ones, spring, fall, and monsoon, which is a wet-summer season.) Annual events include the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show, the Fourth Avenue Street Fair, the Rodeo, and the All Souls Procession Weekend, which is sort of a Day of the Dead affair. The Procession involves people in a variety of costumes. And, the folk-music scare of the 1960s lives on in the annual Tucson Folk Festival. They have great golfing here, too. The Big Valley was filmed in Tucson. Warm valley.
